Photo Magnet Template (Instant-Photo Style)

The fridge magnet that looks like an instant photo: white frame, square picture window, and a handwritten caption underneath — Lisbon 2023, Mr & Mrs Wright, a baby's name and birthday. Design them online with your own photos and download a print-ready PDF for flexible magnet sheets. No press needed: print, cut along the lines, done.

How the photo magnet template works

The photo magnet template runs in your browser — no Canva account, no Photoshop, nothing to install. Upload photos and each one is framed and captioned automatically; the sheet layout is handled for you.

  1. Open the studio and pick Photo Magnet from the template menu.
  2. Upload your photos — each one gets the white frame and a caption automatically. Drag the photo to position it in the window; tap the caption to write your own.
  3. Download the PDF and print it onto an A4, A3 or US Letter flexible magnet sheet (sold as "printable magnetic paper" for inkjet printers).
  4. Cut along the printed lines with scissors or a guillotine. The design edge is the cut edge — no bleed wrap to worry about.

The instant-photo style: white frame, square window, caption strip

The style borrows the three things everyone recognises from an instant print: the white border, the square picture window, and the wider strip at the bottom where the caption goes. On the classic size the window is a 79mm square — large enough that faces and group shots still read clearly across the kitchen.

The caption strip is ordinary text. Tap it to change the words, pick a different handwriting font, adjust the size and colour — or delete it and leave the strip blank. Drag the photo inside the window to set the crop; the frame stays put.

What to print on: magnetic photo paper and printable magnet sheets

Two materials do the job, and both are stocked in A4 and US Letter by stationery retailers. Printable magnetic sheets are matte flexible sheets you print on directly; magnetic photo paper is the glossy variant of the same idea. A third route is to print on ordinary photo paper and stick it to an adhesive magnetic sheet — one extra step, but you get to use a paper you already trust.

The printer rules are the same for all of them: inkjet only, because the heat of a laser printer can damage flexible magnet sheets. Feed one sheet at a time, set the media type to matte photo paper, choose the highest quality setting, switch off double-sided printing, and let the ink dry before you cut. Print at 100% scale — the PDF is already laid out to size.

Photo magnet sizes: the classic and the mini

Both come as a print-ready PDF laid out for A4, A3 or US Letter. Prefer a plain shape without the instant-photo frame? The hub also has 50×50mm (2×2") square, 63.5×63.5mm (2.5") square and 90×65mm (3.5×2.5") rectangular fridge magnet templates.

Wedding favours, save-the-date magnets and photo gifts

The caption strip is what makes this format work for occasions: it carries the names and the date without covering the photo.

Photo magnet template FAQ

What do I print photo magnets on?

Printable flexible magnet sheets, sold as printable magnetic paper (matte) or magnetic photo paper (glossy) for inkjet printers, available in A4 and US Letter from any stationery retailer. Print at 100% scale — the PDF is already laid out to size. You can also print on ordinary photo paper and mount it on an adhesive magnetic sheet.

Can I print magnet sheets on a laser printer?

No — inkjet only. The heat of a laser printer can damage flexible magnet sheets. Feed one sheet at a time, set the media type to matte photo paper, choose the highest quality setting, turn off double-sided printing, and let the ink dry before cutting.

How many photo magnets fit on one sheet?

Four classic 89x108mm (3.5x4.25 in) magnets per A4 sheet, or twelve minis at 54x66mm (2.1x2.6 in). The same layouts are available for A3 and US Letter paper.

Can I write my own caption?

Yes — the caption is ordinary text. Tap it to edit the words, the handwriting font, size and colour, or delete it entirely.

Do I need a magnet press or a cutting machine?

No. These are cut-out magnets, not press-made buttons: print the sheet and cut along the printed lines with scissors or a guillotine. The design edge is the cut edge, so there is no bleed wrap to worry about.

Can I make save-the-date magnets with this template?

Yes. Put the couple's photo in the window and the names and date in the caption strip. Couples typically send save-the-dates 6 to 12 months before the wedding, and a magnet version stays on the guest's fridge instead of disappearing into a drawer.

Which plan do I need for the photo magnet template?

Photo magnets are part of the Business plan and above, alongside unlimited downloads — one A4 sheet of four classic magnets costs pennies once you're on it.
