Photo Strip Magnets: Turn Photo-Booth Strips into Fridge Magnets

The photo-booth strip — four little photos stacked down a tall 2×6 inch strip — is the keepsake everyone pockets at a wedding or party. Turn it into a flexible fridge magnet and it lives on the fridge for years instead of getting lost in a drawer. Here's how to make photo strip magnets from your own pictures, at home.

What a photo strip magnet is

It's the classic photo-booth strip — 50×150 mm (2×6 inch), several photos stacked top to bottom — printed on a flexible magnetic sheet instead of plain photo paper. No frame, no wrap, no laminating: you print the strip, cut it out with scissors, and the sheet is the magnet. Great as wedding and party favours, save-the-dates, or a keepsake stall at a live event.

What you need

• Printable magnetic sheets — sold as "magnetic photo paper" or "printable flexible magnet sheets" for inkjet printers, in A4 and US Letter. Matte is forgiving; gloss makes photos pop.
• Your photos — anything from your phone. Each photo sits in its own slot on the strip, so pick a few that tell a little story top to bottom.
• Scissors or a guillotine — every cut is a straight line, so a guillotine or a ruler and blade give the cleanest edge.

Two ways to fill a strip

You can build the strip either way, and the template handles both:

• Stacked photo slots — the strip is divided into 2 to 6 slots (four by default), and you drop a different photo into each. This is the true booth-strip look, built from your own pictures.
• One ready-made strip image — already have a finished booth strip (four shots and a date, exported from a photo-booth app)? Set the strip to a single slot and drop the whole image in.

The layout is the hard part — so don't do it by hand

Lining up several strips, each with several photos, all square to the page, is fiddly in a word processor. The Photo Strip template does it for you: a landscape sheet with five 2×6 inch strips across it, each pre-divided into photo slots with cut lines already in place. Upload your pictures and they flow straight into the slots.

Step by step

1. Open the template. In the studio, choose the Photo Strip Magnet template and your paper size (A4 or US Letter). A landscape sheet with five empty strips appears, each showing its photo slots and cut lines.
2. Set how many photos per strip. Use the Photo Slots control to pick 2–6 slots (four is the classic booth look). Every strip on the sheet updates together.
3. Upload your photos. Drop several in at once and they fill the first strip's slots in order, then spill onto the next strip — so four photos land as one complete strip, not scattered one-per-strip. Phone photos work as they are; iPhone HEIC files are converted automatically.
4. Position each photo. Click a slot and drag to frame it; zoom in or out (you can zoom well below 100% to fit a whole scene). A small white margin around each photo gives that printed-strip look — the default is 3 mm, and you can widen or tighten it to taste.
5. Add a caption (optional). Give the strip a date or name in a handwriting font, or delete it for a clean strip.
6. Download and print. Export a print-ready PDF with cut lines, print it on a magnetic sheet at 100% scale, and cut each strip out along the lines. A whole sheet of five strips takes minutes.

Tip: a four-photo strip reads best as a mini story — wide shot, two close-ups, then a fun one at the bottom. The eye travels down the strip, so end on the photo you want people to remember.

Printing & cutting tips

• Print at 100% scale ("actual size") — the sheet is laid out to the millimetre, and "fit to page" shrinks it and throws off the strip size.
• Do a plain-paper test first to check which side your printer prints on; magnetic sheets only take ink on the white side.
• Let the ink dry a few minutes before cutting — magnetic stock absorbs ink more slowly than photo paper.
• A guillotine makes the long straight cuts down each strip much cleaner than scissors.
